Worked example
A 6 × 4 m area at 100 mm depth needs 2.4 m³ before allowance. At 1.3 tonnes/m³ that is 3.12 tonnes before allowance.
Before you order
Topsoil density and bulk-bag contents vary with moisture, grading and supplier. Settling and compaction can affect finished levels. Confirm whether the supplier sells by volume or weight, and check delivery and minimum-order terms.
